Sing with Opera on Location

CASTING NEWS:

We are looking for singers to join our cast for Verdi’s A Masked Ball, in a new English version taking place in Sheffield this summer. Rehearsals from July 22nd and the production week itself is August 18th - 24th.

 

Each role is paid and accommodation in Sheffield (via hosts or a contribution towards private accommodation) is provided. 

 

Our casting team would like to see a video showcasing the following:

 

•⁠  ⁠Appropriate repertoire for the desired role

•⁠  ⁠Excellent vocal technique

•⁠  ⁠Excellent character interpretation

 

Please send an aria in English AND an aria showcasing appropriate repertoire for the character you are auditioning for. If you have one aria, in English that fits all of the above, this is also acceptable. 

 

Candidates may be invited for a followup discussion with the director/musical director prior to casting.

Amelia - Dramatic Soprano 

Renato - Lyric Baritone

Oscar - Lyric Coloratura Soprano

Ulrica - Contralto/Dramatic Mezzo-Soprano

Sam - Bass

Tom - Bass

In addition to these principal roles we are also seeking four principal chorus singers who will meet on Sundays (from July 7th) to help lead the individual sections of our community chorus. These roles would suit young semi-professional singers who may still be at conservatoire or equivalent.
